The GrantEd Group is now in a period of rapid growth. We have built a company renowned for our quality, professionalism and reliability and are looking for new team players who can emulate those qualities and join us in nurturing our current clients and building new business.

About the role

We are looking for a capable, adaptable generalist to join our casual pool and contribute to high-quality applications, nominations and other strategic written materials. While our scheme-specific grant advisors bring deep knowledge of particular funders and programs, this role calls for someone who can move confidently across different funders, opportunities and client projects: synthesising complex information, drawing out the strongest material, improving written content and helping solve unfamiliar problems. The work varies considerably across projects. You may move from reviewing an unfamiliar funding opportunity to interviewing a senior researcher for a nomination, restructuring a complex argument or turning scattered source material into a clear and persuasive narrative.

This is a long-term casual engagement. Workload will range from 0-37.5 hours per week, depending on weekly demand and seasonal variation across any given year. Your current arrangements must be flexible enough to accommodate:

  • up to 37.5 hours per week during “peak weeks”, often at short notice

  • weeks where you may not be required to work at all (0 hours per week), i.e. “quiet weeks”

  • availability to work between the hours of 9am and 5pm (small flexibility in work hours is possible by mutual agreement but this is not a job for people who are currently in full-time employment expecting to do this work outside their normal work hours).

Immediate start is available.

The ideal candidate will:

  • Write and edit with precision, shaping complex material into clear, concise and persuasive narratives while maintaining meticulous attention to detail.

  • Take initiative in finding, assessing and applying the information needed to move unfamiliar work forward.

  • Learn new subject matter quickly, identify what matters, and translate that understanding into a practical approach.

  • Balance independent judgement with discussion and feedback, reflecting on their approach and adapting it to achieve the best outcome.

  • Exercise sound judgement about where to focus effort, when to seek input, and how to move work forward.

  • Contribute reliably within a remote team while taking ownership of their own work, communicating early about uncertainties and following through on agreed actions.

  • Be comfortable working one-on-one with senior people, asking thoughtful and sometimes challenging questions to uncover the evidence, insights and examples needed for compelling nominations, applications and other high-stakes written materials.

Exceptional writing and editing skills are essential. We are open to candidates from grant development, research support, strategic communications, nominations, awards, executive writing, consulting, teaching or other fields, provided they can understand complex material, identify what matters and turn it into clear, persuasive writing. Sound judgement, curiosity, discretion and confidence working with senior people are also important. Presentation, teaching or facilitation experience would be a welcome bonus.

We expect you will work remotely from your home office or other working space where document security and confidentiality can be assured.

Salary: $70/hr + 12% superannuation

Reporting

You will report directly to GrantEd’s Special Projects and Insights Lead (SPIL), with broader oversight from the Client Relationships and Workflow Lead (CRWL).
