MRFF Steam Lead
EOIs

Big boots to fill

Our Medical Research Future Fund (MRFF) Stream Lead is stepping down this year after 4 years successfully building our MRFF external grant support to what we consider the best in the country.

We’re now accepting EOIs for someone who can step into that role in July/August this year.

Let’s be clear upfront…
…these are big boots to fill. If you have to Google “what is MRFF”, this opportunity is not for you.

What you’ll bring to this role:

  • extensive, demonstrated knowledge of MRFF schemes, structures and assessment processes

  • a track record of supporting applicants to prepare complex, high-value proposals (MRFF and others) from concept to submission

  • the ability to mentor, guide and QA others to a consistently high standard

  • confidence working 1:1 and in group settings with academics from ECR to senior, clinicians and stakeholders

  • confident and engaging seminar and workshop presenting skills

  • sharp writing, strategic thinking and a meticulous eye for detail that borders on obsessive.

What you’ll do in this role:

  • lead our MRFF grant support stream, including service delivery management, team management and ongoing stream strategy and innovation

  • conduct, oversee and quality assure the development, strategic review and editing of MRFF grants by the MRFF team

  • build and mentor a high-performing team of advisors

  • design and deliver training, workshops and new service offerings

  • stay across scheme changes and translate them into actionable advice

  • contribute to whole-of-business strategy and continuous improvement.

What this role is:

  • a full-time, permanent leadership role in a nationally recognised and well-respected grant support agency

  • fully remote, work-from-anywhere with occasional within state and interstate travel

  • a chance to shape how MRFF support is delivered across Australia

  • a role where your judgement, experience and voice matter.

This is not a:

  • “step up and learn” role

  • generalist grant position

  • quiet, back-end role.

If this sounds like you, or someone you know, we’d love to hear from you.
